BHARATANATYAM PROFILE

Qualification

Master’s in Bharatanatyam from the prestigious Tamil University, Thanjavur, with 30+ years of rigorous training, performance, choreography, research, and mentorship. Trained under renowned Gurus, she is researching and reviving the rare compositions of the Tanjore Quartet under the mentorship of Sri. Chinnaiya Sivakumar. This ongoing work seeks to bring to light forgotten gems of Bharatanatyam and ensure their relevance for future generations.

Guru Parampara

Sreeja’s artistic journey has been deeply shaped by the guidance of esteemed Bharatanatyam Gurus. She is currently undergoing advanced training under Padma Vibhushan Dr. Vyjayantimala Bali and has trained under the mentorship of several renowned Gurus from a young age. Her learning in music and Veena under Sri Chinnaiya Sivakumar, further enriches her understanding of Bharatanatyam as a holistic art form integrating music and storytelling.

Awards & Honors

Recognized for her excellence & dedication to classical arts, Sreeja has received several prestigious honors including the “Kural Mamani” title by Thamizhaga Tamil Peravai and “Natya Mayuri” by Tarangini Natyalayam. She is also a Guinness World Record holder for participating in one of the largest conceptual Bharatanatyam performances, along with the Asia and India Book of Records. She has been guest of Honor, and Judge for numerous prestigious dance festivals.
